Making Room for Beamthrough Doublers

The slightly larger plywood sheets are paying off, letting me cut all the beamthrough doublers I need alongside the bulkheads. Next comes epoxy, shaping the bearers and fitting the major bulkheads into the hulls.

Making Room for Beamthrough Doublers

Having a little bit larger plywood sheets (Elite plywood is in sheets which are 2500mm not 2440mm) pays in surprising ways.
Like here - on one sheet with three bulkheads (6, 5, 7) there is enough space to fit 5 beamthrough doublers. On the other one, on which I didn’t put bulkheads with enough room between them, I managed still to get three of them. Adding to the four I already had from the 1/4 bulkheads sheet - that is all I need (there is 12 doublers in total, as they are a pair on each beam except for mast beam). Lovely.
Talking about lovely- there is a growing pile of bulkheads stack in the corner. I hope I’ll get the rest cut out today so I can start epoxying them before Shabbat.
Sunday means more epoxy on them and working with all the wood which needs to be attached to them (worktop and beamthrough bearers, the latter need some shaping done first…). And on Monday I should be busy fitting major bulkheads into the hulls, shorter stainless steel screws (A4) are arriving then for precisely this reason (shortest I have are 25mm long so they are just long enough to stick out on the other side). I have also some stainless steel bolts arriving with wing nuts and neoprene rubber sheets so I can fit collision locker hatches.
