The Wrong Hardener, Then Back to Work

I received 206 slow hardener instead of the 205 I needed, causing a small delay while the correct epoxy arrived. Now I’m finishing the lower hull and preparing for the next stage.

The Wrong Hardener, Then Back to Work

Ok, normal service restored :) thanks to some misunderstanding and me not checking properly the quote I had another slight delay in getting back to work - received 206 hardener instead of 205.
What is the difference? Glad you asked! 206 is a slow hardener, designed for temperature above (well above) 16 degrees Celsius. In this temperature pot life is about 2 hrs. 205 hardener is fast hardener- which actually works well in lower temperature. Since the top temperature at this time of the year doesn’t really reach 16 degrees working with slow hardener could prove a bit challenging- not mentioning that mechanical properties of any epoxy cured in such conditions could be questionable.
But thanks to quick reaction from Robbins Timber - well, you know I like my suppliers! - a correct hardener is in the workshop with just a couple of days delay. So now just sorting out the wood delivery for the next stage while working on finishing touches to the lower hull. Still need to make rest of the fillets on the bulkheads and fit the elements I have prepared last year before I ran out of resin. That also means locking some spaces for good - so it will be also time for celebrations with yet another part of the hull complete.
