Epoxying Floors While Waiting for Timber
I’m slowly epoxying the cut parts and protecting them from moisture while I wait for more timber and resin. The floors will have to wait a little longer.
Small things like that have to be done as well. Nice, calm day in the workshop today, slowly epoxying the bits I have cut out over last few days.
Early morning today, just after compulsory jug of coffee, there was a bit more activity here - all bits under the floors are properly painted now. I could go and fit rest of the floors but that requires much more resin - and I’m running on fumes. Cannot wait for order to come through- but have to wait for it a bit as there are no long lengths of wood at Robbins Timber Bristol till the end of the month.
One could ask - what timber has to do with replacing stock of resin? Well, actually quite a lot. I have to order some more timber for stringers in top hulls - which are to be fitted VERY SOON! - as I have only some 12 meters of 45x19 Douglas Fir left in the workshop. And that means that I’m not going to order C-pack of West System alone - which given special delivery charges would cost me much more if ordered separately- but can order it with my next wood order.
But for that I have to wait for a bit longer for to get correct wood. Which means priorities for resin usage - and one thing I have to do is to make sure that parts I have been working on for last week or so are properly protected against moisture, as last thing I need is to waste material because it gets distorted before fitting.
So epoxying is the order of the day. And later - last bunks/seats (depending on which hull we are talking about) - large ones, in main cabins. And only then, when they are also epoxied, I may start fitting these floors! #allelectric #tiki38 #allelectricboat #theseanation #buildingwharram #epoxying
