Choosing the Hard Way to Build Ikaroa
I’m listening to Herb McCormick’s book again and taking Larry Pardey’s wisdom to heart: building a boat is difficult, but I chose this way. So I’m trying not to moan and simply get on with the work.
“(…) if it’d be easy, everyone would do it(…)” - yes, Lin Pardey, I am listening to Herb McCormick’s book (again!) and more and more appreciate Larry’s wisdom at these words.
I have nowhere near the knowledge and skill in boatbuilding that he had - I’m actually terrified of what he would say seeing my feeble efforts! - but still with every single day in the workshop I’m more and more convinced he was right. There are sooooo many other ways to get a boat - but they are too easy…
Larry’s mantra reminds me not to moan but get on with my work - after all, I’ve chosen this most difficult way to acquire a boat. So go on with it!
