The Workshop Gets Smaller Again

My workshop is getting harder to work in as Ikaroa grows. I’m epoxying trays, partitions and ladder parts, with the next big jump still waiting on more seats, shelves, stringers and bulkhead 8.

The Workshop Gets Smaller Again

I know it sounds crazy when I say I have a small workshop but it feels smaller every time the boat grows :) Until recently I could put stuff on top of the hulls so I still could work in the middle when I epoxied a batch of new cutouts.
Well, that’s no longer the case. So now I’m epoxying things last thing on the day and start the following day very early (today around 7am, only after my first coffee) to quickly sand them and put another layer of epoxy. And it still means a break till lunchtime because I have all my saw horses covered with sticky stuff.
And it is getting interesting on these trays. Just cut out bulk 2/3 (yes, it lands between 2 and 3 in lower hull) but also partitions in the port hull. And since I cut partitions in both hulls now - and they form one side of the ladder - it seemed only right to cut the other side of it and steps. Lovely things :) it will feel even better when they get fitted into the hull- but that’s not this week yet. First need to prepare some more stuff to be fitted, like rest of the seats and shelves, lower stringers and finally bulkhead 8.
So still some time to next big jump when suddenly, “out of the blue” there is a lot of new stuff fitted in the hulls… it goes like that - from jump to jump 😜 #tiki38 #theseanation #buildingwharram #allelectricboat
