Fitting Beam Throughs and Floors
I’m fitting and epoxying the beam throughs, then moving on to the floors and mast knees. The camber is looking good, and the hull sides are nearly ready to go on.
Beam throughs, beam throughs!
Fitting beam throughs today - not a lot of work since most of the work was done when measuring and cutting (yes, preparation is really important!) so it is only fitting and at the end epoxying them - but it takes time because it is quite physical work - surprisingly they are quite heavy! It is nothing major, but whole day of lifting weight of 5-6 kg (beam through side on bulkhead 4 is about that) and fitting it 2.5m high is something you start to notice after a while in 31 degrees Celsius :)
Beam through sides are all dry-fitted now, I’ll probably get them epoxied in place today and tomorrow fit the floors. Floors (except for bulkhead 4 in which case it needs to fit BETWEEN stringers) are actually cut a bit oversized to make sure I can cut the ends exactly to the curve of the hull - which is not a square box after all!
Quite happy with the camber of the floors - 12 mm is actually quite nice drop, so water should nicely drain of the beam throughs.
So, tomorrow floors and mast knees, Sunday - some small stuff (partitions in port hull) and I’m all ready to put hull sides on!
It is getting exciting!
