Fairing the Hull, One Slow Bit at a Time

I’m fairing the hull with glass bubbles and colloidal silica, working through it 20–25 cm at a time. It is smooth enough, but painfully slow, and I’m already dreaming of sanding.

I cannot wait for sanding!!

No, seriously, fairing bit is beyond torturous! Yes, it goes lovely, quite smooth and thin layer - these three layers of epoxy clearly helped - but I’m quite ready to go with 5 layers of epoxy on the second hull only to avoid doing this all over again!

And seriously - in more people it wouldn’t be so hard, but doing it alone with its slow pace (20-25cm a time) is so time consuming…

Yesterday started quite late and managed to do only short bit - maybe 1/3 of one side of the hull. Today another three hours already and we are up to 2/3! And finished one portion of the mix, so time for a little break, mixing new lot of glass bubbles and colloidal silica and finishing this side (I expect another 3 hours on that one…).

I want sanding!
