# Turning Bulkhead Offcuts Into Butt Straps

Recycling 101.  
If you need to make something new, look around the workshop if there isn’t a piece of plywood in size you need among the pieces you just cut out from the hull :)  
As it happens I had a piece of 9mm plywood, till two days ago an integral part of the port hull, to be precise- middle part of the lower bulkhead number 5\. Till I cut out the passage in this bulkhead.  
So it will stay (mostly!) an integral part of the structure, even in the same hull (sadly, it is just a little bit to small to serve both hulls!). I’m making butt straps for top parts of the stem out of it. And I’m on the hunt around my workshop for another little piece of marine plywood 9mm thick, but it seems I just found one. This time it is the top part of bulkhead number 7 - the one which was cut down a bit to allow for the bunk/locker floor in the stern cabin/locker. I should have another one laying around, maybe I’ll have enough stuff to make stern butt straps as well (probably not, most pieces cut out are actually staying in the hull, like locker covers etc).
