- Description: With epoxy deliveries delayed, I spent the day fitting companionway stairs from leftover 9mm plywood. The grooves should make each step solid enough for a well-fed person—and it looks good too.

Waiting for some stuff to come from Amazon - it will be after 3pm so no epoxy work today (major part of this order are two boxes of gloves - I ran out of them yesterday!) so doing some other stuff I can do without epoxy. In this case - companionway stairs.
I wondered how to make them look good and work good (meaning- being able to withstand a well-fed person being thrown at them, not that there is a huge risk of that!) and came up with quite neat solution. Used some small leftover pieces of 9mm plywood and filled spaces between steps with it. That way each step goes into a kind of groove which makes it solid even without epoxy - so when glued in these steps will be able to take major abuse.
I cut out only one side for now but I’ll make same thing on the partition side of stairs so each step rests on 9mm edge. And it is glued together and filleted from both sides.
So you may say I’m just goofing around today 😜 but it looks good!
