- Description: I’m finishing the stringers, with only the stern left. I’m using leftover epoxy to fill screw holes and other places where the protective layer has been removed, before epoxy primer and hard polyurethane paint do their jobs.

Finishing up the stringers today, it is only stern which is left to do in the afternoon, so getting there 😜

And obviously every time you mix the epoxy with microfibres there is a little left after doing a bit - at least from the stuff squeezed out of the joint. It is usually too little to fix another piece and besides, that’s stuff which was mixed several minutes earlier. And even at this cool 19 degrees Celsius pot life for fast hardener is limited to some 15 minutes. So what do you do with it? Well, that’s why I’m not filling holes I have to fill at some point - if I have any leftover mix I’m using it to fill them. Never enough for all but I don’t have to get to this task specifically - it is being done alongside other work. So the leftovers from fitting stringers went to holes after screws holding butt joints, or bulkheads, or other places where the protective layer of epoxy was removed in one way or another. That is also the reason why I’m using epoxy primers - three layers of this stuff provides very good protection in case I missed something. Especially when it is in turn protected by hard two-part polyurethane paint ;) #tiki38
