- Description: I laminated the other side of the second hull, added aramid, and tried a very thin, runny layer of fairing compound to fill the weave. The cooler weather was a welcome relief after battling the heat and amino blush.

So, since on the occasion of fairing the first hull I have received identical advice from three different people, Rory McDougall and Hanneke Boon between them, I decided to try it on freshly laminated second hull.

Yes, I’ve been busy these last few days (well, week!) trying to sort out laminating in the hottest week of the summer yet. Actually, every single day was hotter than the hottest this year and it was rather exhausting, not mentioning counterproductive in the workshop. I have tried to work early mornings and late evenings/nights to avoid heat, got a perfect, textbook example of amino blush and had to wash the whole hull (well, I would anyways as I had a couple of days break so didn’t won’t to risk it - but the layer on laminated parts didn’t leave ANY doubts about the presence of amino blush on the surface). And finally the front came, rain with it and we have lovely 18-20 degrees Celsius now so I’m using it to finish as much as I can - already clocked almost the third of hours from last week, and today is the first day of the week!
I have laminated the other side of the hull, put some aramid on as on the first hull and after a couple of hours rest I was back, this time putting on this green laminate a layer of fairing compound but this time very runny and with a roller, with a very thin layer, just enough to fill the weave of the fabric - as advised by Rory and Hanneke. It seems to do the trick but I’ll be able to say that tomorrow when it is cured. The other side waits for the results of it, I can’t do another three hours straight. But looks not bad at all!
