# Drawing a Straight Line Without Straight Edges

Having a self-levelling laser level in the workshop is sometimes quite handy.

Especially if you have to draw a 2-meter, perfectly straight line between the middle of two different bulkheads, on a piece of plywood which has probably not a single straight edge and you just discovered that since you had centre line on bulkheads drawn in front, you do not have any reference point on one of the edges.

Btw, the longest straight edge in the workshop has only 1800mm…

Reassuming- you have a piece of plywood with no straight edge and only a single reference point to draw 2000mm straight line which will be used as a reference point for remaining cuts.

And suddenly with this little marvel of technology you can draw this line precisely, because you can use several different bulkheads as a reference. And you don’t need to worry about levelling it, only making sure the line is displayed on two different bulkheads along their centrelines. Happy days!

(Yes, that is the main cabin bunk. Or, to be precise, seats in the main cabin, as this is a port hull…).
